On October 26-27, 2012, the American Academy in Berlin held a Symposium in Honor of Notre Dame Law School Professor Donald Kommers. In the mid-1970s, Kommers published Judicial Politics in West Germany: A Study of the Federal Constitutional Court. The work was vital to American legal scholars who now saw the possibilities of comparative constitutional law. Kommers followed this work with The Constitutional Jurisprudence of the Federal Republic of Germany. The book’s insightful commentary was a further milestone in comparative law.
The invitation only event was highlighted by a dinner honoring the 80th birthday of Professor Kommers.
