Program for Law and Human Development Presents Lecture by UN Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees

The Program on Law and Human Development presented its inaugural Annual Lecture Monday March 19 at 5:15 p.m. in the Patrick F. McCartan Courtroom. This year’s guest speaker was T. Alexander Aleinikoff, a distinguished scholar of immigration and refugee law, former dean of Georgetown Law School, and currently the United Nations Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees.

His lecture, entitled "The Responsibility to Solve,” addressed the massive structural problem posed by communities of refugees around the world who live for generations in camps intended to be temporary — what are the international community’s obligations to address this problem?
