Prof. O’Connell’s "America" Cover Story

| By:

Mary Ellen Oconnell The August 3-10 issue of “America” magazine features a cover story contribution by Mary Ellen O’Connell, the Robert and Marion Short Professor of Law and Research Professor of International Dispute Resolution—Kroc Institute at Notre Dame. The subject of this issue is Torture and the Rule of Law.

“America” asked Prof. O’Connell and two other distinguished lawyers to “make the case for one of three alternatives: taking preventive action, convoking a blue-ribbon committee of inquiry, or bringing criminal charges.” O’Connell’s article, “No Excuses: Our Obligation to Prosecute Human Rights Violations,” addresses the third option.
