Computer Lab

The Law School computer lab is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. After 5 PM weekdays and all day on weekends, law students will need to use their student ID card to access the building. Computer Lab Assistants are available to assist during the following times while classes are in session:

Sun: 5pm – 10pm
Mon-Thurs: 8am – 10pm
Fri: 8am – 5pm

The computer lab consists of three rooms, the main lab, an Instruction lab, and a group study room equipped with a Steelcase MediaScape work center. The main lab is located at 3310 Biolchini Hall. It contains 19 Windows and 3 Mac OS X computers along with 2 Pharos managed Canon multifunction devices. These devices allow law students to print or scan documents to email.

The Instruction lab located at 3301 Biolchini Hall can be utilized for normal lab activities when it is not reserved for instruction. The Instruction lab contains 11 Windows computers in addition to the Instructor station. To reserve the Instruction lab, complete the online reservation form. The MediaScape study room is located at 3325 Biolchini Hall. A demonstration video on the MediaScape work center can be seen here. The MediaScape study room is reserved through the Kresge Law Library circulation desk on the 2nd floor of Biolchini Hall.

The computer workstations provide access to Microsoft Office 2013 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc), Corel (WordPerfect), Adobe Acrobat Pro and Photoshop, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome browsers. Microsoft Office 2011, Adobe products and various Internet applications are loaded on the Mac OS X computers.

Each computer provides access to the university’s central file space where students can save personal files. The file space is backed up on a nightly basis. Students can also store personal files on Box and/or Google Drive allowing access to the files from any device connected to the Internet.

The computer lab in Biolchini Hall is reserved for law students. Other students may use the cluster labs located on campus. See OIT computer labs for the hours and locations of each lab. There is no charge for using the computing labs.
