Class of 2011: A Snapshot
They come from places far and wide and bring with them a vast assortment of talents. They are the 179 members of the Notre Dame Law School class of 2011.
Hailing from 39 different states and 106 colleges and universities, the first-year class is diverse and accomplished. Their alma maters include Peking University, Yale, University of Pennsylvania, Northwestern, and Pepperdine. These students are musicians and Eagle Scouts, athletes and Fulbright scholars, journalists and multi-linguists.
Perhaps one of the most impressive statistics about this class is that more than 75 percent have participated in public service activities. Academically, their median GPA is 3.62, and the median LSAT score is a strong 166.
The top five places from which first-year NDLS students come are, in order of most students to fewest: Illinois and New York (tied), California, Texas, and Ohio. They range in age from 20 to 31.
“The depth of this class is impressive,” says Gail Peshel, assistant dean for students at Notre Dame Law School. “Many of our students have had careers before attending law school, and some are raising children. This class is filled with smart people but, just as important if not more so, this class is filled with good people.”
