Admission to the LL.M. Program is highly competitive. Each year, more than 100 applications are received for the 15 available LL.M. scholarships and living stipends.

Admission Requirements

A complete application consists of the following:

(a) a completed application form for the LL.M. application forms

(b) $50.00 (U.S.) application fee*;

(c) an authenticated transcript that demonstrates that the applicant possesses a J.D., LL.B. or equivalent from an American law school approved by the ABA Section of Legal Education or from an accredited law school in a foreign country;

(d) a personal statement that outlines the applicant’s reasons for wishing to pursue the LL.M.;

(e) two letters of recommendation from faculty members or others who can substantively comment on the applicant’s academic performance and potential; and

(f) official TOEFL results (if applicant is from a country in which English is not the primary language).

February 1 is the priority deadline for submitting an application for the LL.M. program. The Admissions Committee may at its discretion decline to review any application that is not received by February 1.

  • The application fee may be waived in cases of exceptional financial hardship. To request a waiver, the applicant should outline his or her financial circumstances and submit this with the application for admission.
