Tuition
After completing two years of residency, J.S.D. candidates may remain at Notre Dame to complete researching and writing their dissertation, or they may work at their home institution or another place that provides the research materials most useful to them. J.S.D. candidates must be enrolled each semester beyond the two semesters of residency for one unit of credit, for which they will receive a grade of “satisfactory” or “unsatisfactory” from their advisor. For the 2007-2008 academic year, the cost of one unit of credit per semester is $1,479 for those who remain at Notre Dame and $200 for non-resident students.
Housing
Most participants in the J.S.D. Program live together in a privately owned apartment building on Notre Dame Avenue, just off of campus and within walking distance of the Law School. These apartments are fully furnished and accommodate two students per apartment. Information regarding these apartments is available here.
Students whose children accompany them to Notre Dame for the J.S.D. Program may apply for accommodations in the University-owned University Village, which is located adjacent to the University and linked through a regular shuttle service. These apartments are unfurnished.
Upon admission to either program, the Center staff will assist students in securing appropriate housing.
