The following list of scholarships has been compiled as a service to prospective and current Notre Dame Law School students by the staff of the Office of Admissions. These scholarship opportunities were gleaned from external sources.

AABA Law Foundation’s Scholarship
Award: $2,500
Eligibility: to law students who have demonstrated a commitment to serving the needs of the
Chicago-area Asian Pacific American community, and who will continue to serve the needs of
the Chicago-area Asian Pacific American communities through pro bono, public interest, and/or
public service legal work.
Deadline: January (extended to March 31, 2011)

Award: $10,000
Eligibility: Member of diverse group; Entering 1L;

African-American Law Student Fellowship Program
Award: $1,000 – $10,000
Eligibility: African-American & Completed 2 consecutive years of full-time study at a US law school;
Must intend to return to a Black community to practice law;
U.S. Citizenship or permanent resident & membership to the NBA required;
academic qualifications, contribution potential, commitment to African-American issues & financial need

Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Department Funded Legal Education Program
Award: Regular Pay + payment of tuition ($12,000/yr max)
Eligibility: Commissioned officers in U.S. Air Force (2-6 yrs active duty);
Graduated with a bachelor’s degree from accredited university;
Must currently be in pay grade of Captain or below;
academic performanc, extra-curricular activities, community service, prior military record, work experience, SJA recommendation

Alia Herrera Memorial ATLA Auxiliary Scholarship
(need to be a member)
Award: $3,000
Eligibility: Open to: Students attending Law School where annual ATLA convention is held;
ATLA student members;
Law students who are children of ATLA members;
Must be entering 2nd or 3rd year of law school or have the equivalent of 1 year to complete their studies;
As part of the selection process, applicants must submit a 500-word essay on a topic that changes annually

American Bar Association Legal Opportunity Scholarship
Award: $5,000 per year
Eligibility: Racial & ethnic minority college graduates beginning law school;
2.5 GPA (cummulative);
Citizens or permanent residents of the U.S.;
applicant’s financial need, personal & family background, personal statement, participation in community service

Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps Funded Legal Education Program
Award: Regular Army salary. Also provides payment of tuition, fees & all other educational costs

Graduated with a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from accredited university;
U.S. Citizenship is required; “Total person concept”
