On the NDLS Faculty and Students:
“My professors have contributed a great deal to my growth as a student. Studying the law is a unique experience, and it is one that I was unfamiliar with before attending NDLS. The quality of the professors at NDLS is exceptional, and I have found that they challenge the students to think in new ways. The professors seem to have a real interest in seeing their students succeed and to facilitate that goal, they are arming us with the ability to think critically and analytically about legal issues.
As far as growth as an individual, I have my peers to thank for that. The caliber of intellectual minds that make up our Law School is tremendous. By interacting with students from different backgrounds and by hearing their perspectives in class, I have been challenged to see problems from another viewpoint. Additionally, I am tremendously grateful for my peers outside of the classroom. The friends I’ve made at NDLS have been an indispensable part of my ability to maintain a healthy and positive outlook amidst the obstacles of law school."
On NDLS Values:
“I chose to attend NDLS because of the values the school embodies. I was looking for an institution that would give me the tools to become a proficient lawyer, yet would also stress the importance of being an ethical and well-rounded one. So far, I am abundantly happy with my choice. Faculty and staff at NDLS are more than willing to talk with students about the various career opportunities that are available. They acknowledge the pressures some students feel to join the biggest firm and make the most money, but they also stress the fact that is not the only option. There are numerous ways a lawyer can find success in the legal profession and many of them will not be measured by the size of one’s paycheck. Because of my experience at NDLS, I know that it will be possible for me to have a fulfilling and rewarding legal career, even if I keep making time for family and friends a top priority.”
On the NDLS Education:
“The Notre Dame goal of ‘educating a different kind of lawyer’ is an aim that more law schools should have. At NDLS, students receive a quality legal education coupled with subtle reminders that we should not forget what is truly important in life. Whether it’s through an ethics class, community service opportunities, or even law school social events, NDLS puts the focus on giving back to others and using our gifts for the betterment of society.”
