On NDLS Faculty:
“Professor Teresa Phelps has been a tremendous influence on my career. I believe that I was her first research assistant at NDLS, and I was in her first group of teaching assistants. Her involvement as a board member of the Legal Writing Institute (LWI) – a national organization of legal writing faculty from U.S. law schools – led to my own involvement. I have served on the board since 1996, and I was President of LWI from 1998-2000. Notre Dame was one of the first law schools to “tenureize” legal writing faculty, and Terry’s experience, advice, and often, her formal references have been a vital part of my path from “capped” legal writing jobs at two other schools to my current, tenure track position at Ohio State.”
