Graduates of the Law School can be found throughout the United States and abroad and constitute a very important placement resource. Over 80 percent of the on-campus interviewers each year are Notre Dame alumni, a testament to the affinity alumni have for their alma mater. Alumni also assist current students in a variety of other ways, such as funding fellowships for law students who wish to accept public-interest work during the summer.

“Although it may sound trite, NDLS taught me that the law is, and should be, more than rules and procedures; and that the practice of law is, and should be, more than just the use of those rules and procedures to win your clients’ battles. NDLS taught me that I could successfully represent my clients in adversarial proceedings while treating the law, the courts, opposing counsel, the parties, and others with respect. At a time when civil litigation can become mired in petty disputes and personal attacks, NDLS’ respect for the law and its emphasis on the higher calling reminds me why I chose the law as my life’s work, and helps me to maintain a broader perspective that better serves myself, my clients, and my profession.”

“My NDLS experience was different from what I expected from law school. I anticipated overwhelming academics and nothing else, and this couldn’t be farther from the case. The law school encourages balance and backs this up with living proof that you can continue to involve yourself in athletics, extracurriculars, social activities, all the while excelling academically and thriving mentally. I have made genuine friends for life at NDLS, and continual support and the overall welcoming and cooperative environment of the law students, staff, and faculty is fantastic.

NDLS promotes itself by stating that they educate a ‘different kind of lawyer.’ This is an easy statement to make but difficult to back up, but it is legitimate. It’s wonderful to attend law school with people who have similar career goals, interests, and morals. Everyone here wants to help people, whether that means devoting themselves to public interest work, committing themselves to pro bono hours, or even tithing a portion of their salary. It’s refreshing to find a school committed to prioritizing not only the education of minds, but the morality of young adults.”
