Need-Based Fee Waiver Policy and Procedures

Applicants to Notre Dame whose financial resources are severely limited may request a fee waiver from the Law School Admissions Council. LSAC, in addition to granting fee waivers to applicants who are determined to be financially needy, also grants select candidates waivers for the Credential Assembly Service and for test preparation materials offered by LSAC. Notre Dame will grant a fee waiver to any candidate who has been granted a fee waiver by LSAC.

An applicant for admission to the Notre Dame Law School who does not obtain a fee waiver from LSAC may request a need-based fee waiver directly from the Law School. To request a need-based fee waiver, simply download, complete and submit the Application Fee Waiver Request Form at the earliest possible date.

The statement requesting a fee waiver may be forwarded to the Office of Admissions via U.S. Mail, fax, or email and must include your LSAC account number, mailing address and email address. A decision regarding the fee waiver typically is made within ten business days of the request being received by the Admissions Office.

Merit-Based Fee Waiver Request

We utilize the LSAC Candidate Referral Service (CRS) to grant our merit-based waivers. If your information in the CRS system meets our criteria, you will receive an e-mail indicating that your application fee has been waived. To be eligible to receive a waiver, you must participate in CRS, indicate with LSAC that you intend to enroll for Fall 2012, have at least one LSAT on file, have transcripts on file, and must be applying for the Fall 2012 term. Our CRS searches are updated on a monthly basis.

Alliance for Catholic Education

Notre Dame Law School actively encourages applications from men and women who have served as teachers for the Alliance for Catholic Education program. The application fee of $65 will be waived for current or former ACE teachers.

In addition, the possibility of receiving a deferral on admission will be considered from admits who begin their participation in ACE in the year in which they are scheduled to begin law school.
