The Hoynes Code

The Hoynes Code governs legal education at Notre Dame Law School and is named in honor of Colonel William James Hoynes, the first dean of Notre Dame Law School from 1883-1919. Among the topics addressed in the Hoynes Code are the following: the Law School policy with regard to attendance and examinations, degree requirements, faculty committees and voting, and student discipline and student records.

The Honor Code

The Honor Code is based upon the assumption that students at the Notre Dame Law School aspire to enter an honored profession, and that their character and conduct while attending this Law School at all times will reflect favorably upon their future profession, this school and themselves.
